Corporate Governance workshop for BHB Board of Directors Conducted

Bahrain Bourse (BHB) recently organized in collaboration with Bah-

rain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) an advanced training

workshop for BHB’s Board of Directors and Executive Management

on “Corporate Governance”. The workshop focused mainly on the role

of the Board in the overall strategy of the Bourse and the general ac-

tions taken by the Bourse to mitigate the risks related to the general

stratagem of Bahrain Bourse.

Sh. Khalifa Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Bahrain Bourse Chief Executive

Officer stated that organizing this workshop comes as a result of real-

izing the importance of the implementation of Corporate Governance

in creating an integrated environment that facilitates the implemen-

tation of strategies of institutions in general and financial institutions

in particular.

Sh. Khalifa also added that we at the Bourse are committed to un-

dertake all the necessary procedures to adopt the best international

practices in a way that will ensure the best utilization of human and

financial resources to achieve BHB’s objectives.

The BIBF’s Deputy Director Dr Ahmed Abdulhameed Al Shaikh stat-

ed, “The significance of this specific training workshop is manifested

being the first Corporate Governance training workshop for Board of

Directors’ level. The BIBF conducts these training workshops to be

consistent with the requirements of the Corporate Governance Code

of Bahrain, which has laid special impetus on the role of the Board of

Directors in promoting good governance across the organisation. We

are pleased to have had the opportunity to run this for Bahrain Bourse,

the leading bourse regionally”.

The wokshop was led by Mr. Seamus Gillen – a leading Board Advisor.

Mr. Gillen has worked extensively with boards and senior executives in

the UK, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Hong Kong, China, India, Malaysia,

South Africa and the Baltic States.
